How a Retaining Wall Also Makes a Great Garden

If you have to have a retaining wall in your yard, you might as well dress it up a bit and have it be a focal point of your landscape. Using the retaining wall as a garden can be one of the easiest and most beautiful fixes. The following are some ways to make your retaining wall into a garden.

  • If your wall is made out of boulders and large rocks, you may be able to plant some cascading flowers between them. This gives you a sort of vertical garden. Flowering herbs often do well in this sort of scenario, as do flowering vines and baby’s tears.
  • If you have some play with the wall, you could make it double-tiered. With the second tier further out and lower than the first, you have an empty area to place top soil and plant whatever you want. This could be a great place for a square foot vegetable garden, or even for some small bushes or beautiful flowers.

There are so many options when it comes to using a retaining wall as a garden. If you are short on garden space, but have a wall in your yard, consider incorporating them together. For more ideas on utilizing retaining walls in Morgan Hill, visit this website.
